Free Oklahoma CDL Permit Practice Test: General Knowledge 2024

Welcome to our free Oklahoma CDL permit practice test! This practice test, one of many we offer, is designed to help you practice to pass the official CDL General Knowledge test for a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP).

Like the official General Knowledge test, this practice test is based on the official Oklahoma Commercial Driver License Manual. It consists of 50 multiple-choice questions on such topics as driving techniques, hazard perception, and state regulations. It’s up to date as of December, 2024. But unlike the official test, our practice test comes with features to help you learn the material. Each question has an available hint if you get stuck for an answer, and an explanation of the correct answer. You can also get more help from our automated assistant. One thing our practice test doesn’t have is a time limit. You’re not under pressure to pass; take your time to learn as much as you can.

The CLP is a crucial step along the way to obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The CLP will allow you to practice commercial driving under the supervision of a CDL holder. Once you become sufficiently adept at commercial driving, you can take the official skills test for a CDL. The skills test will test you on basic vehicle maneuvers, performing a pre-trip inspection, and driving on public roads.

Once you are a commercial driver, become as knowledgeable as possible about safe commercial driving in Oklahoma. As a resident of Oklahoma, you already know that Oklahoma is in “Tornado Alley.” Especially in the spring, you need to be alert for severe thunderstorms and possible tornadoes. There may also be high winds on Oklahoma’s flat plains to contend with.

Here are the most important commercial routes you should know. Interstate 35 runs from Duluth, Minnesota to Oklahoma City, and from there to Laredo, Texas. Interstate 40 runs from Barstow, California through Oklahoma (where it connects with I-35) to Wilmington, North Carolina. U.S. Route 69 runs from Albert Lea, Minnesota through Oklahoma (where it connects with I-40) to Port Arthur, Texas. U.S. Route 75 runs from Noyes, Minnesota through Oklahoma (where it connects with I-40) to Dallas, Texas.

Test-taking tip: Before taking any test, eliminate any possible distractions that might cause you to lose your focus on answering the questions correctly. If you’re feeling thirsty before the test, drink some water. If you feel you have to go to the bathroom, do so before the test starts. And so on.
